ASF Test Paper I
The Airport Security Force (Pakistan) (ASF) is part of the Aviation Division (Pakistan) and is responsible for the security of airports and facilities and aircraft (on the ground or in the air). ASF protects the aviation industry from illegal interference, counter-terrorism measures, crime prevention and maintenance of law and order within Pakistan’s airports. The current Director General of ASF is Major General Abid Latif (from Pakistan Army).
The ASF was originally established in 1976 as the Directorate of Civil Aviation under the Airport Security Force Act LXXVII 1975. Realizing conflicting security and convenience requirements, after the hijacking of a Pakistan International Airlines aircraft in March 1981, the ASF was disbanded, and in December 1983, transferred to the Ministry of Defense.
